Duties:    Varied term and auxiliary positions. Instructors may be required to teach in a variety of courses and/or programs, including multi-level English for Academic Purposes, English for General Purposes, Business English and Graduation Preparation. Instructors may be assigned to teach in the Writing Centre, ELC Learning Centre or provide instructional ESL support for MBA and other academic students. Instructors are expected to attend faculty meetings and engage in program initiatives. Candidates must demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional training, subject currency, and institutional service.
 
     Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning, and student success. Successful candidates will participate in activities outside the classroom including student support and department committees.
 
Required Qualifications:     Bachelor's Degree from an appropriately accredited institution. Meets TESL Canada criteria equivalent to Professional Standard One (Permanent). Has teaching English As a Second Language training and qualifications through an accredited institution with recent documented experience (minimum 1000 hours) teaching adult ESL and/or EFL. Is familiar with relevant computer applications. Successful candidates will be either native speakers of English or able to demonstrate native level competency. Verification of fluency may be requested.
 
Preferred Qualifications:     Master's Degree in a related field from an appropriately accredited institution. ESL teaching experience at Vancouver Island University. Second language learning experience. International experience.
