We are seeking a Program Manager, Talent & Performance Assessment with a passion for talent, organizational skills, and a can-do attitude to further build our talent and performance programs. You are excited about solving tough problems, creating connections between people and opportunities, and building development programs that will enrich the lives of our WestJetters and guests.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Talent & Engagement, you will play a critical role in ensuring our talent programs are in line with WestJet’s key People & Culture goals. As an internal talent expert, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to create a talent management program that supports us in making the next 20 years at WestJet as awesome as the first!

Key responsibilities

    Talent Management & Succession Planning
        Works together with the Talent Management team to create an effective end-to-end talent management process, including design enhancements, communication, education/training, program roll-out and collection of enterprise wide data
        Supports the Senior Manager, Talent & Engagement with quarterly talent reviews with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and ongoing talent update meetings with CEO/Board
        Acts as a connector between the Executive, the People & Culture team, and the business to facilitate:
            Regular talent and performance assessments
            Collection and follow-up of development plans
            Movement of talent across functions
            Identify and solve for key risk areas
            Build and track succession plans at the senior leadership levels
            Communication and training regarding talent assessment and planning
            Alignment with the goals and objectives of both our business and our People & Culture team
        Collects, analyzes, collates, and regularly manages talent data across all lines of business in our talent management system (SAP Success Factors) to provide a real-time enterprise-wide view
        Measure track and report on talent management metrics and scorecard

    Top Talent Programming
        Support the design and delivery of Top Talent leadership development programs and processes (e.g., mentorship programs, speaker series, individualized development actions, etc.)
        Work with our People & Culture team to facilitate development planning conversations and follow-up for our Top Talent on a regular basis
        Co-create a long-term talent mobility roadmap based on workforce plan and talent goals

    Performance Management
        Manage the annual planning, development, implementation and administration of our performance management processes, programs, and initiative
        Assist in the development and implementation of key performance measures into our performance appraisal system
        Create and provide training to WestJetters on performance management and systems
        Provide recommendations to improve the current performance management program to support broader people and leader development initiatives (e.g., objectives, goal-setting, career development, etc.)
        Proactively collaborate with the PRMs and Talent Management team to make performance management a part of the ongoing culture; including training, communication, performance improvement plans, career development, and guidance as needed
        Actively research and share best practices, trends, and innovative ideas to improve our talent processes and programs

Education and Experience

    Post-secondary degree is required, with a preference for a Business or Human Resource-related discipline.  
    A minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience with processes, programs and interdependencies in talent, performance management and/or people relations
    Excellent oral and written communication skills including presenting to large teams and senior leaders
    Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    High attention to detail and strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, analyze data and formulate actionable recommendations
    Demonstrated experience in start-to-finish project management experience dealing with competing priorities and multiple stakeholders
    Acts with diplomacy and professionalism with highly confidential and sensitive information
    Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset matched with a desire to always be growing and learning

Compensation

    A competitive compensation package including base salary, short term incentive bonus and long term incentives (employee share purchase program) as well as flexible benefits, will be provided.
