What you will be doing:
Assist producer with footage gathering, able to work independently and on multiple projects at once.
Executing clean, dynamic productions of local newscasts for a variety of different markets, through a centralized control room
Collaborating with editorial teams, mostly in other markets, on the design and execution of their local newscasts
Providing editorial support to the local editorial teams, including creating news content, managing live performances and vetting news stories
Search for any needed visuals using Quantel and a number of other sources
Able to recognize deadlines and prioritize work accordingly.
Work directly with editors on features, packaging and finalizing shows.
Enter font information; including researched stats, ensuring all information is factually and grammatically correct as well as following the designed style guide.
This position will consistently include a late shift, ending at or close to midnight.
What you will have:
Must have sound communication skills.
Must have successful experience producing newscasts from a control room, ideally in Ross Overdrive
Must have journalistic education and background, and the ability to supervise editorial content
Social Media awareness is required
Minimum 2-3 years of experience writing for broadcast
Knowledge of all technical equipment used in production as well as a general understanding of how all areas of a newsroom operate.
Minimum 3 years television sports production experience.
Graduate of a broadcasting or journalism program or equivalent experience.
