Planner, Distribution Center (Fulfillment Planning)
The WestJet Distribution Center is the main product supply source to all WestJet third party catering and uplift partners for shelf stable food and inflight products. Consistency of product, reliable supply and product control is imperative to ensure guest inflight experience is to our high and exceptional standards. This position will manage inventory throughout the product lifecycle, engaging with various stakeholders and Business Units on a regular basis while maximizing fill rates and minimizing costs and product wastage and spoilage. The successful Planner candidate will have a proven track record or deep understanding of both Planning and Purchasing strategies. Experience in high volume replenishment and distribution dealing with multiple vendors, multiple SKU’s and various Business Units will be required. A strong understanding of warehousing, logistics and inventory management is required.
Develop, implement and maintain an inventory forecast and demand process to ensure optimum inventory requirements to sustain predetermined fill rates.
Trigger inventory requirements and manage inventory through WestJet ERP systems.
Challenge the status quo to drive costs out and improve value into WestJet.
Manage phase in and phase out of inventory to minimize financial impact and to ensure a high level of guest experience.
Lead regular product reviews with key stakeholders and impacting parties to gather relevant information to adjust replenishment plans to continually improve service and optimize investment.
Ensure third party partners are serviced to predetermined fill rates using strong planning experience and strategies balanced with external factors ultimately providing a high level of guest experience.
Interface with multiple business units to ensure that warehouse capacity, timing of product (in and out), vendor and internal expectations are all aligned to support around menu, seasonality and promotional opportunities.
Establish KPI’s, targets and controls to assess internal and vendor recommendations and performance.
Develop and action root cause analysis to address and improve upon service levels.
Direct and manage outbound distribution orders for third party partners to maximize product flow and product fill rates.
Create, analyze and publish forecast data reports. Such analysis will include recommendations focusing on opportunities and efficiencies.
Balance outbound demand requirements and plan accordingly to ensure optimal stock levels while considering seasonality trends, vendor fill rates, lead time, pricing, promotions, minimum orders and other factors to ensure third party partners are supplied as required.
10+ years inventory or distribution planning experience combined with warehouse operations;
Freight forwarding and/or buying experience would be considered an asset;
Thorough knowledge of Procure to Pay process;
Superior analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills;
Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook);
Experience working in a JDE/Oracle/SAP/TRAX or any ERP system;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to multi-task and make decisions while maintaining a calm and respectful work environment;
Ability to communicate and get along well with others in a team oriented environment;
Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills and the ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
