Manager, Commercial Credit
The Manager, Commercial Credit is a new position at Westminster Savings, and is responsible for making effective and sound credit decisions within our commercial line of business. As a key resource to the commercial and small business sales teams, you will approve loans, recommend approval of loans over your lending limit, negotiate terms and conditions for credit requests, provide ongoing support to the team and assist on strategic projects to strengthen the risk culture and create efficiencies. The Manager, Commercial Credit reports to the Director, Commercial Credit.
Review and analyze the soundness and integrity of commercial loan applications; perform a complete review of loan application and selected due diligence material
Identify and create mitigation plans on high risk accounts; liaise with credit risk management as necessary
Liaise with commercial team to ensure new business growth, retention of existing business and to ensure understanding of the Lending Policy
Provide guidance and assistance to commercial sales teams in order to enhance quality of applicant submissions
Liaise with lenders throughout the underwriting and annual review processes to ensure common understanding of customer and the particular financing
Lead by example in delivering the credit union’s strategy, vision, values
Act as a project team resource on identified technologies that are intended to strengthen the risk culture or create efficiencies for the business relationship managers
We are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a commercial credit granting role in addition to a completed Bachelors’ degree in a related field (or equivalent education and experience). Must haves for this role include detailed knowledge of credit underwriting policies and procedures, superior interpersonal and communication skills, and a proven ability to effectively negotiate and manage cross-business relationships. We are also looking for excellent time management skills, sound judgement and in-depth knowledge of commercial lending including working knowledge of retail lending and leasing. In addition, the successful candidate demonstrates strong communication and presentation skills, the ability to lead and mentor others, and a passion for partnering cross functionally to achieve goals and objectives.
This role is based out of our Central City Corporate Centre.
