Duties: This position supports several aspects of Library Administration using a variety of tools, techniques and reports that all serve to solve challenges, and advance and innovate the library in service of the VIU community.
General Library Administration support: calendar maintenance, update web pages, filing, travel bookings, work and purchasing orders, absence and attendance reporting. Support library committees, including confidential search committees: meeting organization, minutes, agenda; manage supporting documentation. Support financial and project management processes, including gathering information for regular reports. Assist Library Administration to manage complex projects and initiatives involving both internal and external stakeholders. Occasional front line work at the Library Service Desk.
Required Qualifications: Applied Business Technology Certificate (or equivalent) from an appropriately accredited institution and a two-year Library and Information Technology Diploma from an appropriately accredited institution. Minimum three years' experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Demonstrated organizational skills; demonstrated proficiency with MS Office productivity software; demonstrated tact and diplomacy; excellent communication skills; demonstrated initiative to identify opportunities for improvement and provide suggestions in a collaborative environment; demonstrated ability to function well in a dynamic and constantly changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with project management theory and practice; experience in a post-secondary environment.
