Duties: Implement international development projects and Global Engagement activities, under the supervision of the Coordinator, International Projects and Internationalization. Duties include:
Plan and execute international project activities and events (on-campus and abroad)
Coordinate logistics for VIU faculty traveling abroad on international development projects, and for international development partners visiting VIU
Assist with the development of reports on project activities for internal and external audiences
Assist with monitoring and evaluation of project outcomes
Manage and maintain project files
Provide research support for new international project development
Assist with the planning and implementation of on-campus and community-based Global Engagement events and activities
Develop and update project materials, including communications and promotional products
Support student work-ops and volunteers
Provide administrative support to other Global Engagement activities
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution. Minimum two years recent and relevant experience in project implementation, preferably in an international development or community development setting.
Strong organizational and critical thinking skills with the ability to switch between detailed tasks quickly with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and problem solving skills. Demonstrated understanding of project management.
Effective in interacting with a variety of stakeholders from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds and learning styles.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Publisher.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with contracts. Experience living or working in the Global South. Demonstrated knowledge of Results Based Management. Demonstrated knowledge of gender equality/mainstreaming and environmental sustainability.
