Controller, 12-14 month contract
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Controller to join our growing organization for a 12-14 month term. Reporting to the Vice President Finance, our Controller is responsible for planning and ensuring accounting activities are aligned to our organizational goals and are in adherence with IFRS and regulatory requirements, as well as ensuring overall integrity of financial information.
Setting and monitoring accounting policies in compliance with IFRS and the Financial Institutions Act
Preparing appropriate documentation to support implementation of IFRS and use of estimates and judgement within the financial statements
Ensuring timely execution of period end financial close; completing analysis for impairment and loss provisions and other areas where judgement is required
Ensuring timely and accurate preparation and remittance of all commodity and corporate tax returns
Reviewing and streamlining work processes/procedures to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness
Providing expertise and input into projects as required, such as conversions and/or new systems
The successful candidate has a minimum of 7-10 years progressive experience in accounting with at least 5 years at a senior accounting or Controller level, in addition to a CPA designation. Must haves for this role include demonstrated understanding of IFRS and accounting theories and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
