Ukrainian Credit Union Limited has a position available for Commercial Credit Manager. Under the direction of the Credit Manager the successful candidate will be principally responsible for the effective management of our existing $200m commercial credit portfolio while growing the business profitably and ensuring credit risk is maintained at an acceptable level.
Structure new proposals from start to finish meeting our corporate risk profile and providing exceptional service to our member borrowers, documenting all aspects of the due diligence review in our standard format.
Manage the credit approval process based on thorough due diligence, financial analysis and risk assessment.
Ensure any exceptions to policy are fully mitigated and supported by solid rationale.
Proactively coach and mentor branch staff in developing their commercial lending skills, adjudicating junior lender credit requests as they are presented.
Maintain corporate commercial lending policies and procedures, financial objectives and margins.
Manage existing member credit files ensuring the on-going, timely annual review, site visit and financial analysis are current and in good order.
Proactively develop our commercial credit portfolio and identify new opportunities meeting our lending objectives.
Build a solid profile in the communities we serve, originating new member relationships as per growth targets.
Provide monthly/quarterly reporting as required to senior management and UCU’s Board of Directors.
Maintain Commercial Credit Watch List and Out of Order accounts
Use your analytical skills to identify and address deteriorating credit situations, restructuring and remediating as required to minimize loss to the credit union.
Manage the day-to-day delinquent portfolio, identifying credit risk situations and reporting regularly situations of concern to the Credit Manager.
Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, best practices and regulatory requirements

Key Skills and Abilities
· Are a subject matter expert on all areas of commercial lending
. Are detail oriented, well organized and analytical
· Have at least 10 years of commercial underwriting in a recognized, regulated financial institution
· Have a solid understanding of financial statement analysis and financial ratio calculations and interpreting same
· Have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
· Thrive in a fast-paced multi-dimensional environment
· Have excellent presentation and negotiation skills
· Are highly self-motivated and results oriented
· Have an affinity to build solid mutually beneficial member relationships
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 10 years commercial lending experience. Excellent spoken and written English skills, Ukrainian language would be an asset, but not a requirement of the position. A post-secondary degree, ideally in Business Administration or Commerce.
We also require flexibility in scheduling, as this position sometimes requires individuals to work outside of normal business hours.
