The Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation provides risk-based regulatory oversight and a deposit guarantee to enable a safe and sound credit union system in Alberta.

 
THE POSITION

You will report to the Vice President, Business Services & Regulatory Practices and are responsible for overseeing the technology infrastructure, application development, and internal IT governance framework within the Corporation. In addition you will participate in evaluating IT risks within the credit union system.           IT Management

    Develop and maintain the Corporation’s IT strategy.

    Oversee and manage the development, deployment, and support of all IT systems and applications throughout the Corporation.

    Manage and support the internal IT infrastructure (currently using enterprise Microsoft solutions on a virtualized VMware environment).    

    Oversee the development and maintenance of internal business applications.

    Develop and maintain an internal IT governance framework including development and maintenance of IT operational policies and procedures and a disaster recovery plan.

    In coordination with our Corporate Governance team develop and implement information management solutions, policies, and processes.

          IT Governance oversight

    In cooperation with our Regulation and Risk Management team develop and refine the IT Governance framework that is used to evaluate IT risks within the credit union system.

    Act as a subject matter expert for the security systems component of the credit union on-site-verification program.

          Reporting and Information

    Ensure data quality and structure meets the requirements of end users.

    Deliver best practice business intelligence solutions to the Corporation.

          Business Management

    Contribute to the Corporation’s business planning process as a member of the Management team.

    Provide input into the corporate budget regarding IT operating and capital requirements.

    Initiate input and support for business case development, requirements definition and general research to all departments.

          People Leadership

    Provide leadership and coaching and supervise three (3) IT Analysts to contribute to the attainment of department goals.

    Establish performance standards, conduct performance reviews, and identify training and development opportunities for the business unit.

    Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders and suppliers, both internal and external.

 THE PERSON

    Post-secondary degree in information technology and a minimum 7-10 years related work experience.

    Certifications in Microsoft applications and network operating systems, IT security, and data architecture.

    Strong technical knowledge of application support/development, infrastructure (network, server, storage), and operations.

    Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development, IT Governance, and risk management.

    Experience with information management practices and solutions.

    Project management experience as a contributing team member.

    Certification in one of CGEIT, CISA, CISM considered an asset

    Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

    Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills and strong customer service orientation.
